Why We Built This
A gap seen in the ER. A problem too important to ignore.
Heart failure affects tens of millions of people worldwide — yet for most patients, monitoring effectively stops the moment they leave the hospital. There is no reliable way to track disease progression at home, no objective signal to act on before things deteriorate. The system waits. And patients pay the price.

Dr. Smith, an Emergency Medicine physician and engineer, set out to answer a deceptively simple question: what if clinicians could objectively measure cardiovascular pressure non-invasively, in under two minutes, at the point of care?
What followed was years of clinical validation, two granted US patents, and a growing body of evidence — culminating in JVPClinic, the world's first ECG-gated optical device purpose-built for the task. JVPLabs exists because the gap is real, the technology to close it now exists, and the cost of waiting is simply too high. This is not a solution in search of a problem. It is a problem that finally has a solution.

Meet Our Leadership Team
An Emergency Medicine physician and engineer, Dr. Smith leads JVPLabs from frontline clinical insight to product development and regulatory strategy. He practiced EM at Richmond Hospital in BC, holds a Master's in computer vision, was promoted to Associate Professor at Memorial University, secured $1.5M in research funding, and published over 20 peer-reviewed papers. He co-founded Bounce Health Innovation and helped launch a Biomedical Engineering stream at Memorial University.
Dr. Andrew Smith, M.D., MEng.
CEO & Co-Founder
A product and technology leader with over 20 years spanning medical devices, healthcare IT, and enterprise cloud and AI. Michele brings biomedical engineering training and executive product leadership, having held senior roles at IBM (Merative), Mach7 Technologies, Philips Healthcare, and GE Healthcare. She managed a $200M Managed Equipment Services program and currently teaches in the Bachelor of Applied Health Sciences at Conestoga College.

A Chartered Professional Accountant with 15 years in technology and innovation. Robyn brings deep expertise in venture finance from seven years at Killick Capital, where she advised early- and growth-stage tech companies on financial modelling, cash forecasting, and dilutive and non-dilutive financing. She subsequently served as Financial Controller at Radient360, supporting international expansion and scalable financial systems.
